Restoring the original thesis
Work-in-progress snapshot · 2026-09-22
Robert John Borg's 1968 thesis is being restored with its original wording, historical data and scanned illustrations. A separate modern guide with updated references is planned for later.
- 226 selected pages available as scans and transcriptions; printed pages 1–199 are represented.
- 205 completed scoped transcription reviews; 21 pages retain unresolved review details.
- 16 restored manuscript sections available; the faithful source-linked assembly is complete.
- 7 draft photo/line-art assets. Consistent page cropping, reconstructed charts, equation typesetting and final print design remain in progress.
The reader uses visually accepted, full-resolution WebP presentation images with recorded crop geometry and source hashes. Archival camera originals are kept outside the website transport. This is not a newly validated technical guide.
Editorial and research pilots are exploratory, not adopted rewrites. Restoration preserves source errors and uncertain readings; interactive or redrawn charts will identify reconstruction and modern comparison data separately.
